Mission 09: Usada Rescue Operation

Once again, life gets in the way of my producing more for you but, late as it is, here is episode 9 of Go busters, Mission 09: Usada Rescue Operation.i

We start the review with a shot of The Energy Management Center which manages the energy as the name says.

Usada and Yoko appear to be fighting for one reason or another so Usada goes on a mission by himself while Yoko is downing snacks and candy like water.

He arrives at a building and is captured by two people disguised as staff and put him on a luggage cart taking him to a parking garage and into the back of a van.

We return to the base after the van drives away where they get a call about a kidnapping. The kidnapped is RHUL-03, which makes Yoko stand up exclaiming "USADA's BEEN KIDNAPPED"  This brings us to the opening.

If you notice RHUL-03 would Probably stand for Rabbit Helicopter, Usada Lettuce, 03.

Returning from the opening, we hear the ransom call demanding 2,000 trons which is either the Currency of Go Buster world or 2,000 units of Enetron.

It includes Usada arguing with the kidnappers about how he is worth way more than 2,000 trons and a shot on each of the good guys faces in response to the recording of the ransom call.

The commander asks why he went alone to the Management plant and she starts to respond but Ryuuji interrupts her to say that he and Hiromu were helping her with her homework which got Usada steaming about them helping her because she is still 16 and that she needs to study more. His rants include him saying that the Go Busters can't afford to let Yoko get any stupider than she alreayd is. All through this Ryuuji and Hiromu are trying to direct Usada to Yoko who was behind him during some of this, particularly the part about he thinks she is stupid. This gets them into the arguement that brings us back to the problem at hand.

She apologises and says that she heard the Management plant want the Special Ops division to do it on their own.

After this we get to Enter speaking with Messiah about a new Megazord design which Messiah seems happy about. The new megazord is code named BC-04, And will need more enetron to complete it and Messiah says Enter would not be using more of his power.

He picks up the phone call from the kidnappers demanding the 2000 enetrons and we get a shot of the kidnappers hideout.

Back at the base the busters put on their glasses and go into the chutes which we haven't seen in a few episodes. They are taken off exactly 6 seconds later as Yoko summons her Ichigan Buster and gets ready to fire while Ryuuji and Hiromu get ready to open the hatch to the kidnappers base.

Next shot they all have the Ichigan Busters ready to fire. Hiromu uses his Analyze mode on the Morphin Brace to scan the area for the base to get a map of the area. How they get a whole map of a building in a single circle is beyond me but it works as the woman leads them right to Usada.  Yoko goes up to him and digs him for saying Life would be easier without her which he responds cheekily that he was just conserving energy.

Basic Grunts rush in and the kidnappers flee in terror. The Busters henshin and engage the enemy.

The kidnappers are still there and are freaking out until the grunts are defeated.

Enter comes in and the busters think he had something to do with the kidnapping in the first place.

He throws a bomb into the middle of the room and takes Usada away with him.  He hijacks into the TV signal and sends a message to the Busters giving a message about Usada Lettuce demanding 10 times as much Enetron as the kidnappers and that they have 1 hour to deliver the ransom or Usada will be blown to bits by another bomb.

They think about contacting the Energy management plant for it but they had already said they dont want to get involved so that plan was scrapped. The commander then says the next mission will be to get Usada back, faking a trade off if necessary.

This takes us to the commercial break. After which we return to the show to see a distance shot of Usada hanging by his ears over the side of a building.

He laments about how if he was to die no one would be there to take care of Yoko. A truck comes around the corner which triggers a flash back to Yoko explaining the trick which would be a trick within a trick.

As she explains her plan to the rest of the team, the camera returns to the scene and shows us what she is explaining. The plan involves an empty Enetron Tanker and a fake Hiromu.

Enter jumps down from the building and says that something doesn't seem right, and notices that the real Hiromu is around the corner with Cheetah Nick in bike mode.

On the opposite side of the building where Usada is hanging, is Yoko, a fake Yoko was at the scene as well as a fake Hiromu.  She flashes back to a time when Usada was scolding her for not remembering her snacks. She takes a bite of the same snacks that Usada was scolding her with and gets ready to climb to the top of the building.

As she climbs, Enter releases two new megazords from the holding bay he was standing next to when he stopped speaking with Messiah.  These megazords bear a striking resemblance to Fourze Magnet states.

They start shooting and Nick goes off to fight on the bike abandoning Plan A just as Yoko reaches the rooftop. Enter jumps on top of the tanker and opens the lid to find it is just water. The vehicles are launched and ready to fight the megazords which are equipped the same was an old Alpha megazord was.

Enter starts slamming on the enter key on his laptop speeding up the timer on Usadas bomb and they start talking about how they want eachother to survive and do a quick flash back to the time when Yoko was a child.

The timer reaches 0 and explodes and Yoko thinks that Usada died but in yet another flash back, it is revealed that it was all part of Plan B.   Nick and Gorisaki are controlling the mechas on their own and battling the Megazord while Yoko and Usada make up.

Pardon my swearing, but Enter gets pissed at his plan being utterly embarrassed by the counter plan.

He starts attacking with his wire whips and the Busters henshin to protect themselves before Enter leaves.

The Busters enter the mechas now with RH-03 on the scene and transform to fight on their own. They do a very good job fighting as individuals this time and decide not to combine into Buster-Oh.

The episode ends with Usada scolding the commander this time about doing Yoko's homework which he responds with that Yoko asked him to run her through some examples. Yoko enters the room with an "OH Crap" and tries to diffuse the situation but just makes Usada angrier and she is his new target.

As for this episode, i thought it was pretty good. New Megazords are introduced and explores the relationship between Usada Lettuce and Yoko a bit more. I give it a 7 out of 10, pretty good but would have been better if they had used a different reason other than Yoko getting others to do her homework for her.

This episode is also unique among sentai that i have seen in that most of the time after they have formed the Gattai, the combined mecha, they don't usually fight on their own. This episode also didn't have any monster of the week, it went straight to the megazords.

I look forward to next week for episode 10, and as promised, i will have up episode 6.

...00000000000000000000000000000000000.00.000.0.Well, Super Hero Taisen will be coming out tomorrow in Japan which means our faithful friends of Fan subbing will be getting their hands on it and giving it a good subtitling.
In light of this, I think I did something i've been thinking about since over a year ago when Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger episode 1 came out.  When Gokaiger first came out, I paid no attention to the opening and just watched and waited. When they performed their second Gokai Change, the first being into the Gokaigers, I knew that this show was the Super Sentai equivalent of Kamen Rider Decade. No, no, come back, I know a lot of you don't like Decade for one reason or another but just keep reading.
Actually, I knew when the first few minutes of the Legend War after Akaranger told everyone to sacrifice their powers and they got turned into keys, that it was a Super Sentai version of Decade.  So, what am I doing here today? Well, I figure that with the movie coming out tomorrow, April 21st 2012, I may as well give you all a rundown of Decade and Gokaiger, and then compare them with a bit of personal opinion thrown in there somewhere.  Since Decade was my very first experience in Tokusatsu, we'll start there.
Now we begin episode 1 of Decade with some people complaining at the Hikari photo studio because their photographer messed up their photos, the camera pans over the photos that were ruined and they are taken by the obligatory female of the season and dropped into a box labeled "Tsukasa" and the customers are told that they will be reimbursed in full. Natsumi, the one who put the pictures into the box, leaves the photo studio to find Tsukasa because he seems to have screwed up a ton of photos.
She finds him in the park next to his rider motorcycle, odd how he has that already when he doesn't become Decade until later.  The two talk and Tsukasa laments that he doesn't seem to belong in the world because he is good at anything he does except the one thing he wants to do, which is to capture everything on film. But every picture he takes ends up getting distorted.  We find out some backstory about Tsukasa which is that he wandered into the Hikari photo studio one day with no memories and they offered him a place to stay working as a photographer.
He looks over at a building in the distance to see a grey substance of something slowly lowering onto the building destroying it. He and Natsumi start running away and start passing through different worlds without a clue what is going on, eventually making it back to their world where the people who Tsukasa messed up their pictures are lying dead on the ground with their pictures in their hands. They turn to dust just as more monsters appear.
Somehow they get seperated and Natsumi continues running through worlds, sometimes by running through a grey substance wall, sometimes by one just moving over her.  She ends up taking a pipe and swinging it around at some Worms, from Kabuto, and gets knocked over into a pile of rubble which happens to contain a strange beat up belt buckle and a beat up device.  She picks them up and runs away with them, getting cornered by the worms.
Tsukasa who is also running through worlds, ends up on the other side of the grey wall of Natsumi, after meeting Kurenai Wataru, Kamen Rider Kiva, who calls him Decade and asks him where his buckle and cards are.  He doesn't know what Wataru is talking about but listens as he explains that he must get his buckle and travel from world to world destroying the riders and stopping the worlds from merging and destroying itself.  When he is released from these he finds Natsumi on the other side of the grey wall and starts frantically beating on the wall with his fists to get through to her.  She is unaware of his existance behind her at the moment so just keeps moving back finding herself unable to go any further.  When Tsuakasa sees she is holding a belt buckle he beats harder on the wall and tells her to pass them to him.
She hears him now and turns around to pass them through the wall, which is the only thing between the two of them that can pass through.  When they pass through the wall, they look as if they are brand new and shiny again.  Tsukasa puts on the belt buckle which forms the belt straps around him. He opens up the other thing, the ride booker, pulls out the only card on the left side of it and holds it up for the camera to see.   "HENSHIN" he says and puts the card into the open driver. "Kamen Raido" when it closes, it says "DECADE" This forms a blank rider suit around him and causes the grey wall to implode towards Natsumi a little bit. Who by this time has been grabbed by the worms and had her back to a different wall.  9 shadowy grey forms of Decade appear around him with the emblems of the 9 previous Kamen Riders above them. They converge on him and create Decades magenta colored highlights which destroys the wall and impales itself on one of the worms about to attack Natsumi.
The worms use their super speed clock up ability and Decade chases after them.  He opens his ride booker again and pulls out the Kamen Rider Kabuto card. He puts it into his Decadriver and turns into Rider Form Kamen Rider Kabuto.  He uses Kabuto's Clock up ability to match the Worms. He beats them easily and the decadriver forcively ejects the Kabuto card and it blanks out.  Some Makamou appear next and he uses the Hibiki card, followed by his REKKA DAIZANTOU card. The same process repeats itself and after beating the Makamou, the driver ejects the card.  Next up is an orphenoch, he turns into Faiz, uses the Auto Vajin card turning his Machine Decader, his customized motorcycle, into the Auto Vajin from Faiz and then into its robot mode.  It protects Natsumi and Tsukasa takes the sword out of its shoulder and defeats the Orphenoch. During each of these fights, Tsukasa wonders how he already knows how to fight.
He rides back to Natsumi on the bike and his transformation is canceled by itself. While they are heading back to the photo studio with Tsukasa looking through the blanked out cards, A building explodes and Tsukasa protects Natsumi from it but it freezes as well as the rest of time around them. Wataru comes in again and gives more exposition on the situation and the episode ends.
Through the rest of the season, which I believe is the second or third shortest being only 32 episodes.  During these episodes, Tsukasa meets up with all 9 previous riders from Kuuga to Kiva, picking up Kuuga along the way as a partner, who rarely fights.  He decides he is not going to defeat the riders but befriend them and earn their respect.  His superiority complex gets in the way during the first half of each rider arc but he makes up for it in the second half. Along with the other 9 riders, he also meets up with Amazon, and in a turn of fate, he meets Black, gets sent into the world of Black RX and manages to bring the two, who are actually the same rider, into the same world to fight together.  After these, he enters the negative world which is full of the dark rider versions of some of the riders he's already met. These include Ryuga, Orga, Dark Kabuto and Dark Kiva, who is played by the man who played Dark Kiva during Kamen Rider Kiva.
As well as meeting most of the other riders, Decade also meets the monsters from each rider, having to defeat rehashed monsters of the weeks with the rider he is meeting.
Not all riders are friendly, they had all been warned by a man named Narutaki about a rider named Decade who would destroy their world.  So most of them try to kill Decade first before talking to him only for Decade to overpower them most of the time.
Next up is Diends world, which includes Glaive, Larc and Lance, and then the rest of the season is filled with starting the rider war. The last episode ends on a cliffhanger that is resolved with the movie Kamen Rider Decade, All Riders VS Dai Shocker.
So that's Kamen Rider Decade. Some people love it, me included, most people hate it.  The premise of Decade is that the hero, with a superiority complex and the ability to become any rider, good at just about everything he does, and has amnesia has to learn a lesson from each rider.  We will get more into Decade when I talk the comparisons between Decade and Gokaiger. Now on to Gokaiger.
We start Gokaiger with the war already going on and being fought by all the core members of each of the previous 34 super sentai teams. The extras are there too just in another area, except for VRV Master from Carranger and Go-On wings who are in with the core teams.  The 193 sentai take out all the Gormin, ground troops, and then the first invasion of the Zangyack empire shows up. Akaranger gathers all the other warriors around him and tells them they should give up their powers and defeat the first invading force.  This scatters Ranger keys all over the universe and effectively making all the warriors into regular civilians again.
One year later, the second invading force appears to threaten earth right around the same time that Captain Marvelous and his Gokai Galleon comes to earth as they had gotten a clue that the greatest treasure in the universe was on earth.
During the year between the first and second invasion forces the Gokaigers had managed to collect all of the core member ranger team keys.  They land on earth and Luka Milify, Gokai yellow, and a refugee from a planet destroyed by the Zangyack, sells one of her jewels, as she is also a master jewel thief, and gets millions of yen for it as it was a very rare and precious gem on earth.  They go to a restaurant and have lunch when an explosion rocks the place. Marvelous and the rest of the group run out and Gokai Change into Gokai Red, Gokai Blue, Gokai Yellow, Gokai Green and Gokai Pink. They fight off the Gormin grunts in front of a crowd of people who are apparantly hard core sentai fans as they are able to name each and every team that they change into.  They defeat the force by turning into Shinkengers and Gorangers, the 1st sentai and 33 sentai respectively.
So the premise of Gokaigers is that they are searching for the greatest treasure in the universe. To do this, they have to collect the greater powers of the previous 34 super sentai teams. For THIS they have to meet up with at least one member of each of the previous teams. The Goseigers and Gorangers are obtained during the VS movie, 199 hero battle.
The Gokaigers use ranger keys which holds the power of each super sentai inside it. For example, the Hurricanger and Kakuranger keys give the Gokaigers ninja skills, and the Gekiranger keys give them the powers of Gekijyuken and Rinjyuken, as well as the Magiranger keys giving them magic.
The team consists of Captain Marvelous, the leader of the Gokaigers who used to be a part of the Red Pirates under Aka Red, a warrior who is the embodiment of the red warriors, he was apparantly killed prior to the start of Gokaigers and left the Gokai Galleon, Navi, their parrot that gives them hints on where to find the greater powers, the ranger key treasure chest and the task of finding the greatest treasure in the universe.
Luka Milify, Gokai Yellow, a refugee from a planet invaded by the Zangyack who lost her sister to them and a master thief.  Her reasoning for joining the team was to take revenge on the Zangyack for this.
Joe Gibken, Gokai Blue, A master swordsman who used to be part of Zangyack but he betrayed them and was saved by Marvelous and offered the Gokai Blue key. His old friend in the army, who was killed during his betrayal, was actually turned into one of the emperors machine lackeys.
Don Dogoier, Gokai Green, Affectionately called Hakase, Doc, by the rest of the team, as he is the main tech guy on the team, he build the gokai gun and the gokai sabres, as well as he does maintanence on Gokai Galleon and Gokai Oh when it needs it. He is a bit of a wimp and has an odd way of fighting.
And Ahim de Famile, Gokai Pink, the ex princess of the planet de Famille, like Luka, her planet was destroyed by Zangyack and she joins the team as well for revenge. She is the gentlest of the team but she has a fiery rage inside that you do not want to wake up.
Eventually they meet up with Ikari Gai, an super sentai fan boy that knows every little detail of the team straight down to the kind of cigarettes Black Condor liked to smoke before he died.
He joins the team after he saves a little girl from being hit by a truck and ends up in the hospital. There, in his dreams, he is visited by the spirits of Abarekiller, Time Fire and Dragon Ranger, we here in America might know them as Dino Thunder White ranger, Quantum Ranger and Mighty Morphin Green Ranger.  They tell him that his love of super sentai, his knowledge of its history, and his drive to save the girl and goal of being a part of Super Sentai made them choose him and save his life. They gave him a Gokai Silver key with the Gokai Cellular which allows him to become Gokai Silver and  join the team.
These items are taken from him by Marvelous until next episode when he takes on a squad of Gormin all by himself in civilian form nearly dying again.
He becomes an indispensible member of the team as he can tell them the meaning behind the clues that Navi gives them.
Their main enemies are the son of the Emperor, Wals Gil, a spoiled brat of a boy who just wants the earth as a playground, and Basco, who was Marvelous' ex team mate from the red pirates, who has all the sixth and extra ranger keys and a trumpet that allows him to summon those rangers, leading people to believe that he would be the sixth gokaiger.
Basco's trumpet also allows him to forcibly take the greater powers from any one of the old teams with or without the teams consent.
Eventually they get the 35 powers, including their own greater power, which also powers up extras to Gokai Oh.
Dekaranger keys give them Pat Striker which can make gatling guns come out of each limb, Gaorangers keys summon Gaolion to turn them into Gao pegasus i think it is called, and adding in the Shinkeger keys turns gao lion into the pieces to Shinken-Gokai-Oh.
The greater powers of Abaranger, Timeranger adn Zyuranger went to create Gojyujin, Gokai Silvers personal mecha, which turns into a drill, a dinosaur and a robot form.
The Go-Ongers greater power summons the son of Mach Eagle and Bear Rv from Go onger, Machalchon, which also becomes part of Ultimate Gokai-oh using the Gokaigers greater powers.
The greater powers manifest themselves in a door with 35 locks on them created from Navi and, well, ill let you watch and see for yourselves.
I'd recommend Decade to those that have seen the other riders, but if you watch it first, don't go into the others expecting them to be the same as the way Decade portrayed them. They are Alternate Universe riders so their stories as Decade told them are not the same.
As for Gokaigers, I would absolutely recommend Gokaiger to anyone, Super Sentai or Power Rangers fan.  This season was epic and you could learn a lot from it about the seasons that haven't been subbed yet.
Now on to Comparisons, Both Decade and Gokaigers have the ability to turn into other warriors, and both meet up with some of the others they will be turning into.  Both seasons were also Anniversary seasons. Kamen Rider Decade was the 10th season in a row of Kamen Riders. And Gokaigers was the 35th season of Super Sentai. But I am afraid the similarities stop there.
When they turn into other warriors, Decade keeps his Decadriver instead of getting the old riders belt, I think this would be so that you could tell the difference between him and the authentic rider.  As in Decade, he is merely traveling to different worlds where as the previous Super Sentai gave up all their powers so the only warriors are the Gokaigers themselves except when an old warrior gets ahold of his or her ranger key because they get their powers back until they return their key.
There is another difference, Decade had to use a different Ganbaride card for each of the powers he wanted to use, this puts him at a disadvantage as if someone were to steal his cards he would be powerless, whereas the Ranger Keys have all the powers so as i said above if they change into Goseigers, they get the Tensouder so they can use their powers easily.
Gokaigers also get the full suits of the team they change into, so they can pull Dice-O cards out of the belts of the Goseigers.
When you compare Decade Ganbaride cards to Gokaigers Ranger keys, the ganbaride cards seem limited as each card only holds one power where Ranger Keys have all of them.
Also another difference is that all 35 Super Sentai exist in the same universe in Gokaiger so they all know eachother and can meet up at any time, and ALL Are canonical instead of Decade creating new worlds for each rider.
Personally I think that Gokaigers took the plot of Decade and made it better as well as did it right. They took the power hopping ability of Decade and threw all 199 Sentai warriors into the same universe so they didn't mess up the stories of the previous sentai.
So that's about the comparisons between Gokaigers and Kamen Rider Decade.  Marvelous and Tsukasa will undoubtedly butt heads during Super Hero Taisen as they are both the leaders of their groups. Somehow Captain Marvelous has become the leader of Dai Zangyack and has the monsters of the week under his command from every season before his. And as was hinted at back in Decade, Tsukasa has become the leader of Dai Shocker which was his original role before he lost his memory.  They both for some reason want to destroy the opposing force for whatever reason which will be revealed in japanese theaters tomorrow some time.
I for one am very excited to see this war just as much as I wanted to see the rider war in Decade and the end of the Legend war in Gokaiger.
So for those wondering, i give both seasons an A+ Rank.  The Densetsejuu Taise in Gokaiger has resolved with the sentai winning of course only for a new war to start with the Kamen Riders.

Mission 8: Protect the Machine Blueprints

This week it's Mission 8: Protect the Machine Blueprints.

We start off Episode 8 with Hiromu and Nick speaking about Hiromu's sleeping.

An announcement comes over about GT-02 heading out which is revealed to be training for Blue

Buster.

It turns out Blue does training a lot because he is 7 years older than Hiromu having been 15

when he started, and Hiromu was 7 making Yoko 3 when they started training so he feels he has

quite a gap to make up for having been a lot older.

After a small training montage for Ryuuji, it cuts to Enter scanning a building and commenting

on how strong they are before turning to a camera and making faces and gestures at it.

Returning to base, commander says that Vagras infiltrated the Machine factory which is

currently in development of a new buster machine.

Cut back to the factory and Enter is traipsing around as one of the guards at the factory.  The

Busters morph and do a role call before heading into battle.

Enter summons some grunts and they engage the busters. Enter leaves shortly after to get deeper

into the factory.  He forces his way inside with his wire powers until the Busters pull him

back out.

The workers come out of the factory after ENter leaves and say that the blueprints for the new

buster machine are safe. One of the workers recognizes Ryuuji as an old hich school friend.

THe guys name is Kazuya and he was part of the development for the new Buster Machine.

Enter wanted to not only stop development on the new Buster Machine but to also steal the

BUster machine blueprints to possibly make a new Megazord.

It is revealed that the Megazords used to be good guys until Messiah came and the scientists

took the entire lab facility to Hyper Space where the Megazords are all under Vagras Control.

This is revealed when Yoko asked Ryuuji if he really wanted to be an engineer and design to

which he says that he lived near an Enetron tank and loved watching the Megazords work.

Gorisaki is listening in on this conversation through Ryuuji's Morphin brace and starts

worrying about whether Ryuuji really wants to be a Go Buster or not becasue they have been

together for years.

One thing I want to point out here is where the frak did Gorisaki get those headphones? I mean

they are three times the size of normal head phones.

Enter appears again disguised as a worker at some kind of either japanese wal mart kind of

place or a hardware store.  He makes a new Metaroid out of a power drill called Drillroid which

somehow comes from one power drill to a machine with about 10,000 drills all over him.

Like Railroid last week, he makes noises like a drill whirring about.

We cut back to base where the alarm sounds and the signal about the new Megazord, an Alpha

type, will appear in 3 minutes.

They tell the staff of the factory to evacuate and Kazuya says he needs to activate the PC

Security and asks the Busters to leave so they do and Red buster says it was a fake call

because the buildings security includes blocking radio signals and that Enter must have had

help from the inside.

Hiromu and Yoko enter their mechs as Ryuuji wanted to stay behind and take care of Kazuya,

The two launch and 5 seconds later the Megazord does not appear. The timer ran out but no

Megazord appeared adn they all look around for it.

Cut back to Ryuuji who enters the lab again and sees Kazuya copying the new machine Blueprints

because everyone treats him as a lackey when he is a lot higher up in rank.

GOing back to the two mechs, they realize that the Megazord can be underground and doesn't have

to be above.  The megazord fires at Ace and we go back to the lab where Drillroid drills into

the same room that Ryuuji and Kazuya are in.

Blue Destroys the computer that has the blueprints on it because Drillroid was about to copy

them. He then fights him because he is trying to steal the blueprints to the new Machine which

was copied to a hard drive.

Ace and BH-03 are having trouble fighting the Alpha type megazord because he is undeground and

they have no way to get to it.

Kazuya limps away thinking about what Ryuuji says and decides not to turn the Machine

Blueprints over to Enter after all.

This revelation comes too late as Enter comes in and steals the hard drive from him and tosses

a packet of money on the ground causing Kazuya to start to cry and feel guilty.

Ryuuji summons two Sougan Blades to fight with and does a fantastic job of taking out Drillroid

by stabbing the blades into its feet locking him in place and uses a final buster attack from a

summoned Ichigan Buster.

He then goes to the battle and become Buster-Oh and load the sword with enetron to use a

Dimension Crush to see into the ground to reveal the Megazord and destroy it.

The episode ends with the Busters talking to Kazuya who apologizes for what he did and he

decides he is going to give the job another chance.

This episode gives more insight to Ryuujis past, as well as a tiny bit of what the megazords

were used for before Messiah appears.  We even get to find out that Ryuuji wanted to be an

engineer before he was installed with the program that made him a Buster.  He and Kazuya were

best friend and both wanted to be Megazord engineers even studying books for it.

It was a good episode and it is getting closer to the reveal of two new busters.

Mission 7: Ace Needs Repairing

We start off mission 7, with CB-01 going through maintanence after the combination last

episode.  It seems that there was no damage but they need to go through maintanance anyway.

The workers are discussing the maintanence while a new Mechanic is in training. He gets out of

CB-01 and heads up the stairs towards his next job but trips on the stairs and falls back.

If you look, it appears, but I cannot be sure, that when the Libra Horoscopes from Fourze had

the Cancer Horoscopes sent away, he had him sent to Go Busters, hmm, maybe we will see Sonada

Sensei somewhere around too.

He gushes over Hiromu and compliments his piloting skills before going away to his next job

again.

Hiromu questions if the new guy is qualified to be part of the support team and the guy hears

him having only been a few steps up the stairs.

Hiromu spots a screwdriver under a tool box and goes to pick it up to return it.

After the theme, Enter is in another meeting with Messiah suggesting multiple megazords to

attack at the same time. Messiah is still irritated about it and immediately agrees.

Enter returns to the real world and installs the metavirus into a train and makes Railroid

metaroid.  This metaroid seems to have the personality of a train conducter on the job. Talking

about going full steam ahead and going fast.  As well as making click clack noises as he runs.

The Megazord will be to the real world in 30 minutes from this point.

The new guy and some others enter the maintanence bay to add Enetron to the Buster Machines.

Because of being rushed out of the cockpit of CB-01 he forgot to turn back on one of the

switches inside.

At the train yard, Enter and Railroid speak with the busters, and Enter summons a few grunts

before leaving, Railroid follows shortly after.

The Busters transform and begin to fight.  Taking out the grunts easily once again this time

splitting up first.  Here's something I just noticed, When taking damage, the grunts will

release bits of computer code instead of sparks.

A small power outage and it is revealed to be because of the new trainee having forgotten about

one of the switches in the cockpit and caused an Enetron overload that will take 30 minutes to

fix, when the megazord will appear in 15.

The new trainee apologizes and the commander seems upset with him but lets it go when he begs

to be fired after Hiromu says that life is not a game and when you quit at life you quit

yourself.

It appears that one of the powers of the Ichigan Buster, translated by Over Time as Lens

Buster, can make holograms appear as Blue Buster did this to confuse Railroid on the tracks he

was running on to collect Enetron from the wires above it that usually make the train run.

Red Buster makes it to the scene of the battle and freezes after a short confrontation with

Railroid due to a poorly placed wind directional thing, I can't remember the name ATM, and

Railroid gets away, only for Blue Buster to power up and give Red a boost to his speed allowing

him to easily catch up and stop him.  The three then attack together and finish him off.

But only after Railroid shoots traintracks and train wheels at them which they blow out of the

sky.

Even the Metaroids don't explode in fire, but in data. The Megazord will appear in 10 seconds

from this point, 15 minutes too early for CB-01. Three Megazords appear and link up in a train

like formation and target an Enetron tank.

Blue and Yellow go to fight in their Mechas while Red goes back to base and waits for the

repairs to be finished.  He ends up in the cockpit with the trainee mechanic and hands him the

screwdriver he had picked up from earlier and apologizes for his attiture after he hands the

screwdriver over.

We find out that there are about 50 workers who work on Ace and he realizes that they do not

protect the world with just the busters but the workers behind the scenes too.

Blue and Yellow are holding their own but need Ace to even the odds against the 3 Megazords.

Hiromu has a new respect for the mainanence crew of Ace, GT-02 and RH-03 and talks about its

everyone's responsibility to keep the machine running and vows to protect it.

The three combine to take on the 3 Megazords using the RH-03's rabbit ears as a shield and

starts loading enetron into the sword for a final attack.

The sword unleashes a twin beam which takes out the first 2 megazords, then with Final Buster,

the wheels from GT-02 create a barrier around the remaining megazord preventing him from moving

and destroys him with a Dimension slash.

The episode ends with the three busters, especially Red acknowledging the new trainee and

telling him to take care of Ace from now on.

The new trainee has a lot of part in this mission. He has a Buster Machine Maintanence Diary

which is a voice over of the maintanence he had done on the Buster Machines for the day and it

only comes on when he on.

This episode seems to be, to me at least, a moral episode, it teaches the importance of

teamwork. Not just with those part of the core team but of the team members that work behind

the scenes. That is something we all could use a lesson in at one time or another.

Apologies and Procrastination

Ok guys, There will not be a review of Episode 6 of Go Busters At the Moment, I had it all written out and ready to go when my computer crashed. I do not feel like going back and doing it again right now. I will continue on with Busters episode 7 and maybe when we hit 10 I will go back and do 6. I am not abandoning it, I just don't want to re watch something i just watched over again. I am now going on record to say that the maybe is now a definitely. When I get done with the episode 10 review I will do episode 6.

Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Missions 4 and 5

Sorry for the long delay folks, after realizing how long it took me to get episode 4, I thought

I'd do a special and do Episodes 4 and 5 together for one big review. So here we go Tokumei

Sentai Go-Busters Mission 4: Of Resolve and the Mission, and Mission 5: The Danger of

Overheating,

We start off Episode 4 with more exposition by the Narrator, The go busters base is 70 Meters

underground and stretches for more than 2.7 Kilometers to the north and south and 3.5 to the

East and West.

CB-01 is undergoing an upgrade process which is nearly completed and will give the team a

greater advantage over the Vagras, their Metaroid monster of the weeks and the Megazords.

It is shown that to transfer from the earth to Hyper Space a transport system is needed, which

is a bit of an obvious, but the base learned that it is a very inaccurate science and the

Metaroids are something of a Tracer point that the Megazords aim for, though sometimes come out

at most 3 kilometers from the source of its tracer.

Which means that any attempt to send the Go Busters into hyperspace could strand them there

with no way home, far from their intended destination.

Red BUster, Hiromu insists that the commander is scared while saying that it is worth a try if

it will save the humans sent there with Messiah 13 years ago. For the first time, Yoko, Yellow

Buster, agrees with Hiromu instead of arguing with him and pleads with the commander to

consider it.

They get a call from a different Facility and get sent out on a mission because Enter had been

spotted at an Enetron tank. The busters get there only to find him cutting and eating a pizza.

After a brief bit of dialog, he creates a new Metaroid out of the Pizza Slicer, This one named

Cutteroid, which calls for another Megazord to be brought out and prepare for teleportation.

It is revealed that Enter can transport anywhere, not just into hyperspace but from one

location on earth to another.

The Blue and Yellow Busters henshin and summon their Ichigan Busters in blaster mode to fight,

while Red Buster calls for his Sougan Blade.

After a short battle, Cutteroid flees the scene to attack guards at the Enetron plant but

disappears shortly after that too.

Cutteroid appears after Hiromu discovers that their intended target was not the Enetron tank

right there, but the one within 3 kilometers away from it. So Nick and Hiromu head towards the

scene to get into battle.

After morphing on his bike, Hiromu enters CB-01 and it transforms into bot mode. It is shown

that he can hover a small distance above the ground as well as run.

After realizing that this megazord is too strong for him, the commander sends out GT-02 and

RH-03 out to help.

Enter gets excited when the megazord opens the first armor plate exposing the enetron plant. He

then tells the megazord to start transfering it to Messiah.

The other two appear now and interrupt the transfer.

Some more from a previous scene is brought up about the scientinsts installing the vaccine

program into themselves.  Blue and Yellow are fighting during this time with Cutterroid and are

near defeat until after the memory that played, Which makes them go back to fight in earnest.

It should be noted that during this fight, only Buster Ace is being piloted. The megazord is

working on its own and the BUddyroids are fighting in the vehicles.

Calling on all their power, Red Buster makes Buster Ace go to 100% power, throw his sword at

the megazord, which can deflect most attacks with an energy shield, and then throw all its

weight against the sword which goes into the head of the megazord. The megazord responds by

cutting into the cockpit of Buster Ace, fortunately it shuts down before it can do anything to

Hiromu or Nick.

The episode ends with commander admitting he was afraid to try to rescue the scientists

transported to Hyperspace and one of the crew members telling them that they snuck a tracker of

their own into the Enetron figuring it would allow them to transport into Hyperspace with it as

a start point.

So ends episode 4, Before we go on to episode 5, I want to get something out of the way first.

I have seen it online and in different media about Tokumei Gattai, if you go back at least

until Dekaranger, the combined robot is usually the name of the sentai gattai team-OH, for

instance, Shinkenger was Samurai Gattai, Shinken-oh, Gokaigers was, Kaizoku Gattai, Gokai-Oh.

It has been 4 episodes and so far nothing has come up about combining the Buster Machines at

all.

When it comes up, Which as far as i know is breaking a record for longest without combining, I

am just going to assume that the robot will be Tokumei Gattai, Buster-Oh.

Anyway, on to episode 5.

We start episode 5 with the Megazord from episode 4 being examined as it hadn't exploded after

the fight. The main point of it is to see if it will tell them anything about Vagras.

The base has figurines for each of the megazords, and nickname the first 3 Alpha, Beta and

Gamma, Nick picks up Gamma and says that it was pretty rough.

This causes an arguement with Usada Lettuce about Nick's power, Which prompts Nick to call him

Antennae Ears, which is a play on a joke with old Television sets. Back in the old days,

Televisions had antennae that would go on top of them and plug into them. These were referred

to is Rabbit Ears or Bunny ears.

The show ignores the fighting for now and concentrates on the dialog between the 3 busters.

After a butchered saying by Yoko, the commander says that he has the next mission for them.

The camera returns to the Buddyroids who are still fighting and have been heard in the

background during the exchange between the busters.  Nick appears to be trying to throw Usada

but Gorisaki Banana is preventing it.

The fighting stops when commander makes his announcement of the next mission.

Their mission is to protect a supply truck that is restocking the Enetron tank destroyed in the

last episode.

Enter installs the metavirus into an old Bicycle making Tireroid.

Once Tireroid is up and running, the base gets a signal that a new Megazord is coming.

It is an Alpha type megazord.

Yoko tries shooting it which works for about 3 seconds because it just gets up and keeps

running. She fires again and it dances around the road, while keeping its speed, and dodges her

attacks. Her last attack hits and Tireroid fires a blast at the truck which seems to do nothing

when it hits.

Ryuta tells Hiromu to keep going and that they will take care of the Metaroid. When it tries to

go around the van Ryuta and Yoko are in, Ryuta slams into him and they henshin. Getting out of

the van Blue and Yellow Buster call out their names and begin the fight.

We return to Hiromu who calls for his Ichigan Buster after the truck goes past him.  He turns

it into Camera mode and takes a picture of the truck which scans it and can tell there is

something wrong with the tire.

After a short bit with TireRoid, Blue and Yellow Busters are fighting with the standard grunts.

Cutterroid targets Blue who leaves Yellwo to handle the grunts.  He tries to fight back but he

overheats because he is pushing himself too hard.  He manages to crush the hands of Tireroid

and even keeps fighting harder than usual.  He starts firing wild shots from the Ichigan buster

and is more maniacal than the coolheaded blue warrior we are used to from him.

Yoko notes that this is probably his weak point.

A brief scene where Hiromu shoots the tire of the truck and gets it to stop before they return

ot the other two.

Gorisaki tells Yoko that there is nothing to do for Ryuta except wait for him to crash when

Yoko says she will stop him. Ryuta doesn't recognize friend or foe and fights whatever gets in

his way.  He defeats the Metaroid by himself and demorphs from it.  Yoko goes over to him which

causes her to get slammed into a wall.

Ryuto punches the wall next to her head when she questions her. Gorisaki shows up through a

tunnel that is too small for him.  He gets to the scene just after Ryuta faints and she starts

crying from the shock.  Gorisaki pours ice down over Ryuta and Yoko is told to rendevoux with

Hiromu and she runs off.

Usada tells Hiromu that Yoko is in shock and to be nice to her.  When Yoko gets there, the dirt

on her gloves has rubbed off on her face when she was rubbing her eyes.

In a bit of a humorous moment, Nick pulls his mirror from his vehicle mode out and shows Yoko

her face. In my opinion that was pointless seeing as there was a giant traffic mirror right

there, they even used it so Hiromu could see Yoko running towards them.

After an exchange between Hiromu and Yoko, the megazord transports in and CB-o1 and RH-03 are

launched.  Hiromu says he will handle the megazord and tells Yoko to escort the truck. Before

heading off to fight, Hiromu gives Yoko his handkerchief to wipe her face off with.

Transforming, Yoko enters RH-03 and Hiromu goes off on Nick to fight.

As stated before, the megazord is an alpha type megazord with asthetics of the metaroid on it,

this one having the ability to skate by transforming his feet into wheels.

After some exposition with Ryuta about his relationship with Yoko, he puts on his jacket and

heads out.

At the battle, Hiromu is fighting, and is about to use his final attack when the Megazord moves

out of the way, revealing a billboard displaying a chicken. This freezes Hiromu using his weak

point which for some reason is activated by a chicken.

The megazord goes after the Enetron truck, and consequently, after Yellow Buster.  Yellow is

saved by Blue Buster and GT-02.

The two talk briefly and then go after the megazord who is now firing at the Enetron truck.

Yoko turns her mecha into animal mode and after a brief fight, kicks the megazord who lands on

Buster Ace, Hiromu, still half frozen doesn't break out of it fast enough. He breaks out of it

immediately after that and uses Final Buster to destroy the megazord.

The three cut to the site of the enetron tank where the truck has just delivered the enertron

and machines are repairing the tank itself.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger as the eye on the Megazord from episode 4 lights back up.

Well there you have it folks, 5 missions down. That is at least 1/10th of the season done.  We

are about a month into the show and it is going great so far. They are really holding out on us

with Buster-oh. We all know it is coming, but i guess that they are building up the suspence

until they make the big reveal.

This is the third mission focusing only on one specific mecha during the fight, well i can't

say that really. The first episode was for CB-01 and Buster Ace, then we had an episode where

CB-02 was the bigger help than Ace and this time, it was because of RH-03 that the Busters won.

I am sure the gatta formation will come soon, and from what i have seen, they are FINALLY

getting away from the mecha fold up and become limbs.  That is something i personally have been

really missing, I don't want to see one upper body and the other two becoming arms or legs, I

like it when they other mechas come apart and form body armor, or all three come apart and go

back together.

As opposed to episode 3 more pair of glasses was thrown this time. Man, they must go through a

fortune on the glasses alone.

Cutterroids special ability is to cut things obviously due to its name.

Tireroids ability seems to be able to run Super Fast even able to keep up with a truck.  It can

also shoot a device into a machine and make it go out of control.

RH-03's animal mode, a rabbit of course, can hop around and fight with fierce tackle attacks

and kick with its hind legs. It also has a special ability in that it can transform its ears

into the helicoptor rotors they are made from and dig with them.

I thought these two episodes were pretty good, The show is well paced and its never too easy to

guess what is coming next.  The Megazords having 3 different bases as opposed to the human

sized villain becoming big is a nice change of pace that we haven't seen since Dekaranger, or

Go onger, as i haven't seen Go onger yet.

I have to say that the only things we can really predict is that they will get at least 2 more

busters, which have already been revealed and maybe a sixth.  Then the other is that Enter will

eventually fight the busters himeslf.

Again sorry for the late update, but i will see you next week for Tokumei Sentai GO BUsters

Go Busters Review #3 GT-02 Animal, Move Out!

We start off episode 3 with an arguement between Messiah, the big bad of the season and his human spy, the one who is able to walk freely between Hyperspace and earth.

I realized in my last review that I didn't have all the facts right.

For starters, Its not cyberspace, its Hyperspace, the big bad is not the one who keeps making the monsters every episode, that is his human spy named Enter, and the big bad is a digital skull by the name of Messiah.

The people who created the Go-Buster gear had created a technology to transport items across distance instantly.  Out of this program came Messiah, who started Vagrass and spawned Enter, yes, that is his name.

Messiah tried ot take over the company who responed by transporting the entire plant into Hyperspace.
This would have killed all humans inside since no humans can survive the teleport sequence but since the 3 future Go-Busters somehow had programs installed inside them, they survived as they were teleported out of the plant to safety with their buddyroids.

Anywho, It seems that Messiahs emotions control the area inside Hyperspace seeing as when he gets aggravated during the arguement, Enter tells him to calm down because it will destroy their roads to the human world which would take years to repair.

Messiah calms down telling Enter to destroy the humans, and the Go-Busters.

Enter returns to the real world dressed as a doctor in a hospital.

One other thing I should mention about Enter is that he likes to mix French in with his speech.

He attaches his computer, which is rather old and beat up, to a medicine cart by a syringe and creates Needle roid, which takes on the form of a robot with syringes for hands, wears a doctors lab coat and a tie made out of black and yellow danger material.

He also attaches his computer to the power terminal of the hospital which starts sucking Enertron out of the hospital power reserves.

The commander immediately sends out the Go Busters as a signal from a Megazord being transported reaches the base.

Needleroids power is to attach metal face masks to the staff of the hospital and they become his slaves. They don't move until an antannae comes out of his shoulder and sends out a signal. Which he does once the Go Busters enter the hospital and start investigating.

At which point the hospital staff attacks.

Being human, the Go Busters refuse to use more force than necessary to knock them out.

During an arguement between Hiromu and Yoko, it is revealed that yes, Red Buster is older than Yellow buster by 4 years, He is 20 and Yoko is 16 making the incident happen when he was 7 and she was 3.

Blue Buster looks on in amusement during this.

The busters henshin after a doctor comes running in and being chased by drones.

The doctor, and for those learning Japanese, Doctor is Hakase (ha, ka, say,) which seems to be a blanket term for doctor, professor, and the like. The doctor says that they are running low on Enetron and that the patients on life support and in the ICU will die if they don't get more soon.  Blue says he will take Gorisaki Banana, his gorilla buddy roid and get the Enetron from a nearby tank while Yellow and Red go to the generator room and stop NeedleRoid, who is there turning the hospital staff into half drones one by one.

It is shown that Enter can create drones simply by scanning a Metavirus card into his laptop and plugging it into an Enetron source, thereby draining more Enetron and creating several drones.

Red and Yellow continue to fight the half drone hospital staff while Blue and Gorisaki start taking Enetron from the tank to restock the hospital. The Megazord, which started transporting at the beginning of the episode appears. It seems that when a Megazord transports from Hyperspace it takes on some characteristics of the Metaroid that it was created for.

It is the debut of GT-02 robot form. Its main weapon is Banana Missiles.

It is revealed that it is Gorisaki Bananas first fight.

After a bit, Red Buster and Buster Ace join the battle and tell GT-02 to get the Enetron to the Hospital, where Yellow Buster had stayed behind to assist.

Blue Buster takes the lower route, which is under the bridge, that is on fire, it tries to take a point but a piece of the bridge breaks and they fall in the water.

After Buster Ace defeats the Megazord, the lights at the hospital go out and the patients and staff begin to panic.

The episode ends with GT-02 returning power to the hospital and a small friendly arguement between the 3.

CB-01, which turns into Buster Ace is released from 2 buildings being pulled apart.

GT-02 is released from a docks crate storage moving around to form a door.

This is the 3rd episode where the three don't combine their mechas to fight. It is to my knowledge the longest where this has occured being that the teams usually combine in episode 2 at the latest.

Red and Yellow seem to have a relationship in the making seeing as they are fighting in some fashion every episode.

Their weapons are what spies would typically use.  A camera that turns into a gun. Binoculars that turn into a sword and others.

When in buster form, they hit a button on their chests that transport different weapons to them, usually their swords.

What I find interesting is that in recent years, they have used english voice actors for some of their arsenal.

For instance, most of the weapons for go busters, including the morphin brace is an english actor. The brace shouts "ITS MORPHIN TIME" "LETS DRIVING" when entering the mecha, "ITS TIME FOR BUSTER" for the final attack, and "CALL MODE" when making a call from it.  The suits shout "TRANSPORT" when calling for weapons. The announcer for the episode title is also english.

In other sentai, such as Goseiger, Gosei Knights gosei cellular would call out the attacks in an english voice.

For Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider Meteor, of Kamen Rider Fourze, has an English voice for his Arsenal.

This is the first, again just to my knowledge, Super Sentai to have an all english arsenal to call out their weapons.

Join me again next week when i cover Go Busters Mission 4.

Power Rangers Samurai Episode Review #14

Episode 14: Room For One More
Written by: Jill Donnellan and Jonathan Rosenthal
Directed: Akihiro Noguchi

So we’ve got a new Ranger or have we? Antonio is a special case in the world of Power Rangers Samurai. He wasn’t born in to it he’s chosen to dedicate himself to becoming a samurai and that’s causing more than a few issues with our favourite spandex clad heroes. Will Antonio be allowed to officially join the team? Can the Rangers accept the Gold Ranger as the latest addition to the team? Can Antonio come up with enough woeful gold based puns? For the answers to these questions and more read on.

Antonio is the only subject conversation this week. Both Kevin and Mia seem a bit wary of the man in the Gold spandex. Luckily for them and rather unluckily for us Mia says at least Jayden can vouch for him. Unfortunately the only way he feels he can vouch for him is through the art of the flashback. And that means bringing back the terrible child versions of Jayden and Antonio. Now this is only a suggestion but as just about every child actor in the history of the world is usually dreadful why don’t they start using midgets instead? Anyway the flashback scene is emotional and very moving. They were friends from when they first met. The times they played together were the only times Jayden felt like a real kid. God I’m welling up just writing about it. Why do we do this to our fictional children destined to be heroes? Ji wasn’t too keen on all the playing and judging by the pathetic attempts at training undertaken by young Jayden he has good reason.  Kevin really isn’t keen on Antonio joining the team. He wasn’t born into it and he has had no formal training. And they have no idea what this guy is up to. All Antonio is interested in is looking good and he’s even got a gold tie to wear as he heads to Shiba house to join his new team mates.

I think any worries we have about the team not letting Antonio join them are quickly dispelled with the opening titles which now include the golden one. Well at least we can all relax now and enjoy the journey. Ji’s not impressed with Antonio’s tardiness but he isn’t surprised by it. Ji’s still pissed off about Jayden giving Antonio a zord when they were kids. Antonio Garcia arrives at Shiba house and he’s about to make a tit of himself. Quite why the young man wearing his finest suit decided to bring a fishing rod with him I’ll never know but he manages to get it caught on his pants for a good old fashioned pants ripping gag. Nearly twenty years ago splitting pants were the bread and butter of Bulk’s role in the show. How things have changed. It breaks the tension and everyone has a good chuckle. But there are hard decisions to be made and terrible flashbacks to endure. The flashback of young Jayden making young Antonio a samurai is beyond terrible in acting standards. Children cannot act. I’m sorry but it needs saying. Back in the present and Jayden doesn’t know what to do about his childhood friend. Ji thinks he’s too close and offers to make the decision for him.

Down with those pesky Nighloks and Xandred is whining again. God he annoys me. Worst villain ever. This time he’s whining at Octoroo about how he spends all his time studying and no time doing anything useful. That’s rich coming from Captain Half-Arsed. Well Octoroo has got some bad news to make Xandred even whinier. He’s just dropped the bombshell that there are now six Samurai Rangers for them to deal with. Time to meet the Monster of the Week and he’s out to avenge his predecessor. Meet Steeleto he won’t be staying long.

It’s time to catch up with our loveable comedy duo Bulk and Spike. Just what are these loveable rogues up to this time? Oh it’s more of Spike’s creepy Pink Ranger fantasies. Joy! To be fair beyond the creepiness the dream scenes are quite amusing. And following that scene a miracle happens. That’s right I can bring back the score board. Bulk has received a load of goop in the face! It’s been such a long time since it last happened I will have to check my records to see how many times it’s now happened.

Back at the Shiba house and Ji is probing Antonio about the Samurai Morpher he was able to create. We learn just how dedicated to his training as he was. Emily and Mike are eager for him to join them but Ji won’t allow it. Ji has confiscated his Morpher just as the Nighlok sensor goes off.  Maybe I’m going soft in my old age but I was genuinely moved by Antonio’s pleas to Jayden to let him join them. And my heart broke a little when Jayden told him he wasn’t a real Samurai and that they didn’t need him. Man Jayden you can be cold sometimes. Poor Antonio is gutted.

The blade wielding Steeleto isn’t much cop. He’s spent at least a minute slashing at some guy and all he’s managed to do is ruin his suit. He’s still banging on about Vulpes. Perhaps they were lovers? Nighloks never seem that interested in each other the rest of the time. The battle is intense and I do want the Rangers to win but I don’t know if I can condone Jayden jumping around on someone’s car. They probably worked really hard to get that car Jayden and now you’ve dented it. And for what? You’ve failed to defeat the Nighlok and he’s gone back to the Sanzu River to moisten up. They need a new strategy and now even Mia’s coming around to the idea of recruiting a sixth Ranger. Which is good news for Antonio and bad news for the Nighlok scum.

Antonio is doubting himself but luckily he’s getting a visit from his supporters Mike and Emily. Back at Shiba House Mia is discussing the decision not to allow Antonio to be a Ranger with Jayden. The truth is Jayden is worried about his friend getting hurt. The others were prepared for the path they’ve followed. Even Kevin is up for giving him a chance! Antonio asks for his Morpher back and queue a terrible flashback. But it’s worth it because Jayden has finally agreed to Antonio being the sixth Ranger. It’s time to kick some Nighlok butt!

I’m a big enough man to admit that Antonio trying to squeeze into the line up made me giggle. Every time I’ve seen it. But right now it’s all about the fighting. Antonio is a bit too busy celebrating finally becoming an official Samurai that he forgets that they are actually there to take down these pesky Moogers. Luckily he’s a fast worker so it’s time for another high speed attack followed by an instant replay. With six Rangers the Moogers really are no challenge but I’m sure they’ll continue to be used despite their complete lack of success at any point. It’s time to take down the Monster of the Week and it’s gonna be a joint effort from Jayden and Antonio. There’s lots of whiz bang moments as the two launch a joint attack against the bladed rogue. That’s the first form down and we all know what that means…

They’re Mega Modeing it up without Antonio. But they’re gonna need the Gold Ranger and his Octozord. Mia’s just had a thought. If the Octozord belonged to Jayden’s family before he gave it to Antonio then it must be compatible with the Megazord. That’s right we’re getting what must be the millionth different Megazord combination. The Octozord adds a bit of new weaponry to the Megazord and it makes taking down this Nighlok a whole lot easier. Down he goes and the Samurai Rangers are victorious once again radical! Back at Shiba House they’re having a fish fiesta to celebrate. Ji admits he was wrong to exclude Antonio so quickly and Jayden admits he was wrong too. We end with a cheesy line about Antonio being worth his weight in gold and now we can look forward to more adventures with the Samurai Rangers.

Go Busters Mission #2 A promise from 13 years ago

Tokumei Sentai Go Busters Mission 2: Promise from 13 Years ago

Warning: Spoilers ahead

We start off with Bunny Copter and Gorilla Hauler picking up the damage from Go Buster Ace from the last

episode.  Bunny Copter carries a sign and drops it down on the back of Gorilla Hauler.

The buddy roids seem to be the controls for the zords and are able to communicate in traditional japanese,

to eachother and their pilots, who are Buster Yellow and Buster Blue.

The two senshi return to the base and continue their arguement from clean up duty.  Buster Yellow wonders

why Buster Red gets special treatment.

It is revealed that the director and Reds father were good friends.

The three busters go on surveillance around an Enetron station with Buster Red going in as bait by having

his Nick Cheetah bike to get refilled.

Unfortunately, the 3 senshi have fatal flaws that while incapacitating them makes for an interesting plot

twist.

Buster Yellow, Youko, needs a constant calorie intake or she lacks the energy to move.

Buster Red, Hiromu, freezes for a certain amount of time whenever he panics, this time it was a chicken of

all things.

Buster Blue, Ryuuji, uses up too much power, he overheats and crashes.

Each of these weak points is similar to a computer in that, when a computer doesn't have power, it can't

turn on or do anything, when it tries to do to much, it freezes and when it does too much it overheats and

can crash.

After a small battle between Buster Blue and the villain for the season, Nick, Buster Red's bike,

transforms into his robot form and carries Hiromu to the scene. while Buster Yellow happens to find a candy

in one of her pouches to get her going and she arrives at the scene too.

Another arguement, this time between Buster Red and Buster Yellow ends the scene and segways into the next

part.

The new assistant, who started working at GB just the episode before asks the commander what happened 13

years ago that caused all the commotion.

The commander explained the situation and gives back story into the villains, and the creation of the Go

Buster gear.

Much like RPM, the villain was a virus that escaped into the electrical lines and tried to take out the

laboratory. It is revealed that Buster Yellow and Buster Reds father and mother respectively worked in the

laboratory, and were killed when the scientist teleported the lab in an attempt to save the rest of the

world from the virus.

To make the monster of the week, the villain, opens his net book, attaches a wire to it and then the other

end to whatever he wants to infect with the virus. He then scans a metal card into the slot on the computer

which transforms the item into the Monster of the week.

This weeks monster is 2 flammable gas containers and the dolley it was on. The computer shouts out that

this monster is called Burner-roid

Once the transformation is complete, the head villain begins to send the "Megazord, which is the giant bots

to fight by the gattai mechas immediately, and a timer appears on screen. This time it is 8 minutes 45

seconds.

The Go BUsters enter the tubes which lead them to tunnels that exit out onto the scene of the monster.

along with their weak points, the program installed in them, which was said to us during the flash back

sequences, The Go Busters also have super powers, Red, super fast, Blue, Super Strong, and Yellow Super

jumping. (Hmm, Dino Thunder anyone?)

15 minutes out of 24 in the title of the episode is explained. The promise was made by Hiromu to Youko that

everything will return to normal.  Ryuuji is the oldest, Hiromu is the middle and Youko is the youngest.

Revealing that he remembers the promise he made to Youko, allows Youko to smile at him and accept him for

the first time as a team member,

The team gets a call on their braces that the megazord would be due to arrive in 3 minutes. We jump down to

1 and the team boards their vehicles. When the buddyroids attach to them, they change into more animal like

characteristics. The bunny copters cockpit folds inside nad a bunny face comes out while the same happens

to Gorilla hauler with a gorilla face. Buster Ace, the red mecha is already in robot form so it doesnt

change at all.

After a battle with the megazord, being again, just Buster Ace, the enemy is defeated as usual. Buster Ace

has at least 3 forms, being robot, Car, and cheetah mode. The other two have yet to show us anything new in

the terms of combination. Gorilla Hauler is the one that can transport people to safety while Bunny copter

puts out the fires with water tanks.

The episode ends with Red Buster insulting Yellow Buster which she responds by shooting at him from Bunny

Copter and flying away and Blue Buster commenting on how he would need to keep an eye on them.

This series is a good one so far.

Is it going to live up to its predecessor Gokaiger, well to me it is too early to tell given that it is

only the first episode, and it is also viewers choice.

As with all forms of media some will like it, some won't and others just won't care.

Go Busters is the first season to feature the senshi taking their helmets off. This is to my knowledge,

which is rather limited having only seen Dekaranger, MagiRanger, Boukenger, a little of GekiRanger,

Shinkenger, Goseiger and Gokaiger.

The Mecha having multiples of the same weapon in case one gets destroyed is new to me too.

This season in itself is a throwback to several Power Rangers seasons as there are many similarities. The

henshin is, in my opinion, a throwback to our first season of Power Rangers in the call only.  When they

turn the dial on their Morphin brace, it calls out. "IT'S MORPHIN TIME" which is what the power call was in

the original.  After that, a pair of sunglasses pops up from the brace and the designated colored suit

appears around them. After which they have to hold up the brace to their face and press the button while

calling out "Let's Morphin" which propels the glasses into their helmets forming the eyepieces for them.

Their super powers are like Dino Thunder, i am not sure about Abaranger, as Red had super speed, and blue

was super strong there too.

Missions for the senshi to go on is like SPD.

And the main villain being created from a computer virus and creating robotic soldiers to attack the city,

is like RPM.

Every episode, before transforming, they take off their glasses and toss them away.  The current number of

glasses thrown is 4. I will have a revised number next week when I rewatch episode 1.

All in all i liked this episode. Very interesting, interesting story, keeps my attention.

The way they create the monster of the week instead of him being a drone from their army is intriguing. I

dont know that that has been done before.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys mission based style stories or is a Sentai or Power Rangers fan.
One thing I don't reccomend is that you go into this expecting it to be like Gokaiger. No, Gokaiger was a

35th anniversary, being the 35th team it was one big cameo appearance from a ton of old actors.

This is a new team, new actors and I think it is pretty good. BUt only time will tell.

I will see you guys next week when I take on Mission 3.

Introduction

Hi guys!!

My name is Kamen Ranger,

I am taking over this portion of Eltar with Tokusatsu and Anime reviews. Asked by Zordon to do this, there was no way I could turn down him. As I go through the Toku and Anime, It will be in episodic format, so every episode of an anime series or a toku will be here, of course Every week we will see a new Gobusters
review and once i start watching a new show, you will start seeing those reviews every day. Unfortunately, Fourze is too far along for me to do an episodic review so when next years rider comes out, I will start there. Stay tuned for more Toku and anime written reviews here as I journey through Japan on my quest to take in as much toku and anime as I can.

Follow me on Twitter at the same name as above for more insight on things and what might be coming up in
the future.

Power Rangers Samurai Episode Review #13

Episode 13: An Unexpected Arrival
Written by: David Schneider and Seth Walther
Directed by: Akihiro Noguchi

This series really is flying by. We’re already at that point. Yes that’s right it’s that time again. Time for what? Time for a sixth Ranger! Yes our favourite Samurais are about to recruit a new member to the team. Just what colour will this new Ranger be? Will his or her acting be bad enough for me to bring out the Kevin’s Dad scale? Will this new Ranger take the time to squirt Bulk in the face? For the answers to these questions and more read on!

A mysterious youth walks across the beach with a fishing rod over his shoulder, pulling a cart behind him and brandishing the legend “Antonio’s Fresh Fish.” He looks upon the nameless city which is home to the Samurai Rangers and says: “wait till they get a load of me, this will be golden baby.” He’s also appears to have his own folding zord. Just who is this mysterious youth? Is he the new Ranger? What colour Ranger will he be? As I know you’re all incredibly eager to know the answers to these questions and because I don’t want you fretting through the rest of this review I’m going to answer these questions for you now. Antonio. Yes. Gold.

At Ranger HQ the Nighlok sensor is going off and the current Rangers are on their way to check it out. They sure do a lot of running. Maybe Ji should get them some sort of vehicle- a five seated bike perhaps? Jayden feels like someone’s watching him, but there’s no sign of a Nighlok. Strange things are afoot in the nameless city today. The gang head back to Ranger HQ just missing Antonio as he passes by.

Post credits and the Rangers return to tell Ji there was no sign of Nighlok activity. Their conversation is interrupted by a mysterious bowman launching an arrow at the Dojo carrying a message. Okay, he’s mysterious for about five seconds before it’s revealed to be Antonio. That guy gets everywhere. What words of wisdom does this message carry? See you soon. Classic. Mia’s confused and scared by the message. Is it a warning of a Nighlok attack? Well, judging by the intelligence of their leader, Captain Half-Arsed, I’m assuming not. Anyway the house is protected by symbol power so no Nighlok can penetrate the grounds! Mike thinks there’s something fishy about this and he’s sniffed the message, so I think he means literally. Emily isn’t keen on the smell of fish apparently.

Jayden’s acting a bit odd. He thinks he can feel something, but no one else can. He’s jumpier than a Mexican jumping bean (is that a real thing or did I make it up?). Jayden can sense something other-worldly but the others don’t believe him. Even Ji’s a bit sceptical of Jayden’s claim. Surely Jayden can’t be wrong? Well it certainly looks like it as he very nearly takes off Emily’s head with his sword (snigger). Looks like Jayden’s flipped. He’s prowling the dojo chasing shadows. The others doubt him but I believe him completely. Especially as we see there’s a Nighlok behind it all. He’s watching Jayden through some sort of magic mirror thing the cunning bastard. Jayden’s lost it now. Things are so bad he’s splashing water in his face! He’s now muttering something to himself about it being gone, I wonder if that’ll be explain later; *spoiler alert* it does. Can a Nighlok really have a well thought out plan to make the others doubt the Red Ranger? Where the hell was this kind of planning the rest of the season?

The next day the non-crazy Rangers are out investigating the broken gap sensor. And who do they happen to come across? That’s right! Antonio is there trying to sell his smelly fish. He’s given a flier to Emily and that flier has writing very similar to the writing on the message they received at HQ. Emily shows some detective skill by comparing the two and the Rangers are fairly sure they’ve found their man. When they confront him he makes a run for it. Quite suspicious behaviour for a fish vendor I’m sure you’ll agree. And just what is this big moment he’s preparing for? He manages to floor them with the old chucking ice on the floor so they slip on it routine, and before they can recover and give chase they receive a call from Ji. Jayden’s headed to Spring Valley. I think Ji’s worried the Red Ranger is about to off himself after no one believed him about the whole feeling a presence thing. Looks like the rest of the gang are just as worried. The team split in two. Kevin and Mia go to find Jayden whilst Mike and Emily chase fish guy.

Jayden’s looking pretty serious as he walks to the water’s edge at Spring Valley. He’s not going to pull a Reggie Perrin is he? This is where we get the official introduction to our Monster of the Week. Vulpes has been spying on the Red Ranger using his enchanted eye. Looks like Octoroo has summoned this particular Nighlok to see if Jayden’s been practicing the sealing symbol. Unfortunately that all-seeing enchanted eye is on the blink and spying on the Red Ranger is no longer an easy thing to do. Looks like Vulpes will have to go and face the Red Ranger. Elsewhere, Mike and Emily are struggling to keep up with Antonio. He’s just too fast they cry, for the millionth time this episode. Now I don’t like to criticise, but if you can’t keep up with a guy dragging along a cart of fish you’re not really fit to be a Power Ranger.

Back at Spring Valley and Vulpes has arrived. He’s using his girly little mirror erm... I mean his enchanted eye to try and track down the Red Ranger. Looks like Jayden was ready for him as the enchanted eye is snatched from his hands by a folding zord. Jayden majestically leaps out of the water and starts whacking the Nighlok with his sword. Mia and Kevin arrive to give us thickos an explanation of what’s going on. This is the Nighlok Jayden was sensing before. Just in case you didn’t get it. Jayden explains how he figured out how water can break the Nighlok’s spell. It’s rather impressive deduction from the Red Ranger. The mirror is destroyed and Vulpes reveals why he’d been spying. It’s time to battle and they’re gonna need the rest of the gang, so the call goes out to Mike and Emily who’ve lost Antonio. Looks like Antonio is ready for his big moment too.

With that, the five Rangers are united and ready to battle! Unfortunately Vulpes has a few tricks up his sleeve that make this battle a lot more difficult than they expected. The sly bugger has only got a reflective ability that makes him impervious to the Rangers Spin Sword attacks. Things are looking grim for our Samurais; they’ve been un-suited by the latest attack and he’s about to finish them with a powerful attack whilst they’re unmorphed. What the heck are they gonna do? You know what these guys really need right now? A mysterious youth with some exploding fish. Enter Antonio. Looks like this is the big moment he was talking about. Kevin seems disappointed that Mike doesn’t recognise Antonio after he’d spent so long chasing him. But that’s really not that important right now. Antonio has a Samurai Morpher! What a shock to anyone who’s been speed reading this review. He’s only a Gold Ranger! How awesome is that? I’m not particularly keen on the costume; maybe it’ll grow on me but it ain’t as nice as the other ones. But the man is more than the suit, so let’s see what Antonio is like in action before we judge him. Looks like he’s pretty damn good at the Mooger fighting. Antonio moves so fast he needs a slow mo replay for us all to catch up with him. Now that’s hardcore! He manages to take down a whole army of Moogers single handed then it’s time to take on Vulpes himself. He gets a spot of help from Jayden in this battle and there’s a hint that these two know each other. But before they have chance to elaborate on that they’ve defeated the first form and we all know what that means…

Looks like we’re cracking out the Battlewing Megazord again. Gotta love the tiger helmet and breast cones. Unfortunately, Vulpes has the ability of invisibility and that’s proving difficult for the Rangers. Luckily for them the Gold Ranger has a zord all of his own, the Octozord. Now I’m not a fan of Mega Mode, I think it looks pretty stupid, but I must admit I do actually really like the look of the Gold Ranger in Mega Mode. The Octozord is fairly cool and his ink attack comes in very useful for exposing the invisible Nighlok. Thanks to the help from Antonio the Megazord is able to finish Vulpes once and for all, and all is well with the world once more. Post battle it’s quite a sight to see the fully suited up Gold Ranger dragging along his fishing cart. Looks like Jayden knows Antonio. Time for a flashback. With child actors. Dear god. To say the acting is bad is such an understatement you wouldn’t believe it. The acting is so bad that it may have actually broken the Blake Foster scale. Looks like Jayden gave Antonio the Octozord when they were abysmal child actors as a reminder they will always be friends, no matter how far apart they are. Despite the awful acting it is quite an emotional scene, as Antonio promises to become a Samurai Ranger to assist Jayden when he becomes the Red Ranger. Back in the present it’s time for some good natured sparring and even Kevin seems impressed with the new Gold Ranger. Although Kevin doesn’t look to keen on him joining the team.

Whether Antonio is to become a full time member of the Samurai Rangers is a question for next time. This is where our journey must end dear reader.

Power Rangers Samurai Episode Review #12

Episode 12: Jayden’s Challenge
Written by: Jill Donnellan and James W. Bates with David Schneider
Directed by: Jonathan Brough

Last time was intense. We learned that Jayden was the only one capable of defeating Master Xandred once and for all. We learned that Spike had fallen madly in love with the Pink Samurai Ranger and we learned Deker wouldn’t let anyone get in the way of his duel with Jayden. The last episode ended with Jayden abandoning the rest of the Rangers after deciding this was his battle and his alone. Has he really abandoned the rest of the Rangers for good? Can he defeat both Xandred and Deker alone? Will there be more creepy romance fantasy sequences from Spike? For the answers to these questions and more read on.

We kick off with Ji worrying that the weight of leading the Samurai Rangers has become too much for Jayden. Jayden himself though is more worried about the threat he poses to his fellow Rangers. He’s realised that they will do anything to protect their leader, and he can’t put them in that kind of danger. If only they knew the truth eh Jayden? Jayden vows never to let his team put themselves in danger to protect his power to seal Master Xandred, and Ji decides he needs to give Jayden room to make his own decisions, and on this downer we hit the credits.

Post credits we’re with Bulk and Spike who are continuing their training to be Samurai warriors. Today’s training apparently involves sleeping on the floor, which all samurais do of course. Spike wants a bedtime story from Bulk- was I the only one secretly hoping Bulk would regale us a tale from the Zordon era?- but alas no such luck and Spike is soon fast asleep. Cue a quite frankly disturbing yet amusing dream sequence, with Spike prancing around with the Pink Samurai Ranger. Now I can understand a young boy’s love for a pink ranger. I mean I grew up with Amy Jo Johnson. Aaaah Amy Jo why did you ever leave us? Wait what was I saying? I never had any creepy dream sequences, at least none I care to share on this blog. Anyway it’s a weird sequence and I’m not too disappointed to see it end.

Back at Ranger HQ, Emily and Kevin are still recovering from the injuries they received in the last episode. Kevin’s been keeping himself busy whilst in bed; he’s got out his sketch book and he’s been making plans to combine the Megazord with the Battlewing. That’s our Kevin for you, what a guy! Ji is over compensating; he’s far too jolly and the others know why. They know Jayden’s gone, but Ji is confident he will return. Down on the good ship Xandred, last week’s Nighlok is still hanging about, making a complete mockery of the monster of the week formula. Robtish is making excuses for why he failed to defeat the Red Ranger and is blaming Deker. Xandred has decided he’s going to destroy Deker. I’m sure Deker is shaking in his boots as Xandred has proven himself to be an efficient and gifted villain so far. Jackass. Apparently Xandred’s plan to destroy Deker is to send the Moogers to fight him. That’s right, the crappy grunts he sends to fight the Power Rangers every week. The same grunts that lose every single week. Bravo Xandred bravo. I am looking forward to your eventual downfall you useless gimp. After Deker easily defeats the Moogers, Xandred decides to join the battle himself. About bloody time he did something. Despite being a piss poor leader Xandred is pretty handy with a sword and Deker can’t match him.

You know what’s been missing from the series for a while? That’s right an absolutely terrible child actor! Well good news folks this episode features a turn by one such child. Jayden’s sat outside a playground (hey I’m saying nothing) when he spots a crying child. Apparently the kid’s dad has left town for a job. Jayden can relate. Except his dad’s job was to defeat Xandred and he didn’t do it very well. Jayden misses his dad and decides it’s time for a flashback with some strangely relevant lessons. To make the kid feel better Jayden decides to make him a paper plane. Elsewhere we learn sleeping on the floor did Bulk no favours. Back with Jayden and he’s decided that life for kids shouldn’t involve monsters. But guess what’s coming? That’s right, monsters. Typical! Luckily for the kids Jayden is there to kick some Mooger butt. The Nighlok sensor has gone off and the other Rangers are ready to answer the call, but Ji explains that Jayden has always struggled with allowing others to get involved in this fight. But they’re a team and the Rangers are dedicated to fighting the good fight. Huzzah.

Back at the battle that annoying kid is proving himself to be quite the fool. He’s only trying to retrieve Jayden’s paper plane from under the foot of the Nighlok! What a tool. He also pulls some quite odd faces that make me question whether he is a poor child actor or merely a shaven chimp dressed in human clothes. Unfortunately he doesn’t meet a bloody end at the hands of Robtish. Jayden to the rescue once again. Jayden’s ready to destroy the Nighlok and I’ll be glad when he does it; I’m sick of his god awful Scottish accent. I have nothing against the Scottish, but I once nearly left home because my mum had a Scottish friend staying with us for a few weeks. Drove my barmy it did. Just as all looks bleak for Jayden, the rest of the gang arrive to join the battle and he’s pretty happy to see them. Time for another flashback. This time his dad is making him a paper plane and telling him he will one day have to lead the Rangers against Master Xandred. Wait a minute… wasn’t that his job? Surely he was planning on succeeding? That’s not really the attitude to have when you go into battle is it? Anyway it’s time for the Rangers to suit up and get ready to take this Nighlok down! They are able to defeat Robtish when they work as a team and we all know what that means…

We’ve got a super sized Nighlok and unfortunately he’s still Scottish. It’s time to call on the folding zords and the shoulder pads of doom. Robtish calls upon some flying Moogers… Flying Moogers, really? On the plus side, looking up to see these ridiculous creatures helps Bulk cure his bad neck. Awesome! Robtish and the flying Moogers are proving too much for the Megazord. Time to bring out the Battlewing? Oh yeah! It’s time to test Kevin’s theory about combining the two. It works, but unfortunately it makes the Megazord look like it’s had a bad boob job. The Megazord is able to take to the skies now and take down those flying Moogers. The theme song is playing so that can mean only one thing it’s time to kill us some Nighlok. A final blow from the Megazord’s gigantic sword is more than enough to kill the Scottish beast. Back at Ranger HQ, Ji is very happy to see Jayden return. it’s quite a touching moment to see student and teacher reunited. The gang get to spend the evening having fun they’re gonna catch a movie, a romantic comedy with zombies apparently, so that’s Shaun of the Dead for them. Jayden’s allowed the night off the battle against the forces of evil will still be there tomorrow. And so will I with yet another pointless review of a kids’ show.
